Announcing the Cen-Tex Stars and Stripes Invitational!

The Cen-Tex RollerGirls, in conjunction with Blood & Thunder Magazine and Team USA Roller Derby, are proud to present… A World Cup Promotional Event — February 21-23, 2014 at The Coliseum, on the State Fairground of Texas, in Dallas.

As you are might know, the 2014 Blood & Thunder Roller Derby World Cup will showcase in Dallas, Texas, from December 4 – December 7, 2014.

In preparation for this international tournament, over 300 skaters from across the USA tried out for the privilege and honor of representing their country in competition on the flat track. 32 skaters have been selected to train together, of which 20 skaters will be chosen for the final Team USA charter.

The end of 2013 also marked the graduation of YOUR Cen-Tex RollerGirls from the WFTDA apprentice program. To celebrate both events, Cen-Tex RollerGirls will be hosting our “coming out” party with a 4-team WFTDA sanctioned round-robin; including a prime-time exhibition bout by Team USA, which will be split into Stars vs. Stripes.

The Stars vs. Stripes bout will feature Blood & Thunder’s International Rule Set, highlighted by 30-second penalties for all skaters, and a “30 seconds or one-free-pass” penalty for jammers. These regulations have already been tested in two Team USA scrimmages in Milwaukee to the delight of the participating skaters.

The Stars vs. Stripes exhibition proved one of the most watched bouts in the history of our sport to date, bringing the DNN broadcast from the 2011 World Cup in Toronto over 7,000 unique hits, and delighting the 2,000+ fans in attendance with a single point victor on the final jam of the bout.

In addition to the 4 bouts to be played on Saturday, and 3 bouts to be played on Sunday, Team USA will offer a boot camp on Friday, February 21. Boot camp tickets will include a weekend pass to our event.

Tune in for updates regarding tickets and promotions, as well as Team USA boot camp registration.
